Thank you for indicating an interest in our church. We welcome you (and children of all ages) to come and get to know us by joining us for worship on Sunday morning or by attending one of our many open programs listed on our calendar or in our latest newsletter. If you would like to chat with a pastor about our theology or arrange for a visit/tour, please email Linda Conlin or call her at 708/246-1900, ext. 216.
If you’re looking for a faith and play-based preschool, look no further!
BECOMING A MEMBER
Friends and visitors are received into membership three or four times a year before our congregation during a Sunday morning worship service. Prospective members are asked to attend two orientation classes prior to joining. During those classes, visitors will meet some of our staff, learn about the history of the church and what we believe, as well as the myriad of ways people can get involved. We believe strongly that by getting involved in a small group ministry such as a fellowship group, book discussion or Bible study, people form friendships and connections that are not often found in the secular world. These connections often cause us to deepen our faith and draw us closer to God. We would love to welcome you into our family of faith. Our New Member Coordinator, Linda Conlin, is happy to answer your questions at any time: email@example.com or ext. 216.
We are delighted to unite couples in Christian matrimony. If you are interested in having your wedding here at our church, please email Meg Heinz (firstname.lastname@example.org) indicating your preferred dates/times and estimated number of guests. After we hear from you, we will check availability of our facility (Chapel or Sanctuary) as well as with one of our pastors. (We do not simply rent out our space. One of our three pastors will officiate or co-officiate your ceremony for you.) We will also send you an information packet listing our pricing and policies for on-site weddings. And, we’ll go from there. Whether or not you are married here, we wish you every blessing and invite you to worship with us at any time. (Please note: weddings are not scheduled more than 12 months in advance, and members are given priority over non-members.)
As we understand it, baptism is the outward and visible sign of the grace of God, and receiving this sacrament is the sign and seal of our identity as children of God, disciples of Christ, and members of the church. Accordingly, we strongly encourage families seeking baptism to be (or intend to be) active members of our community of faith. You are welcome to visit any Sunday to experience worship at First Congregational Church, and if you have specific questions about our church or beliefs, any of our pastors would be happy to meet with you.
