First Congo Study & Pilgrimage: The National Memorial for Peace and Justice

Members and friends of First Congregational Church of Western Springs are invited to participate in a time of prayer and study, followed by a pilgrimage to The National Memorial for Peace and Justice. Beginning January 10, we will gather on Thursday evenings for six weeks from 7-8:30pm in the Seim Room to study a constellation of issues related to injustice, racism, and violence.

This study will prepare participants for a pilgrimage to the National Memorial for Peace and Justice in Montgomery, Alabama, March 8-11. All are welcome to participate in the study even if they are unable to join us for the journey south.

An information meeting about the trip will be held on Thursday, January 3 at 7pm in the Seim Room. The cost of the trip is TBD, but a tentative itinerary has been established:

March 8 – Depart 6am; stay in Nashville

March 9 – Lunch in Tuscaloosa (we’ll invite First Congo college students to join us); Stay in Montgomery

March 10 – Worship at local congregation in morning; NMFPJ in afternoon

March 11 – Depart 6am; arrive in Western Springs late
